John Brandler
First, meet the man behind the name – John Brandler. John is the owner, founder and leading force behind this small, friendly business. He comes from a dealing background – his grandfather was an auctioneer. So it was no surprise that he started dealing in antique furniture whilst he was still at school.

Later, he purchased his first Carel Weight painting at a house sale. It was through Carel that he met other Royal Academicians, fell in love with the art world and has dealt in art ever since. Whilst in the early days he dealt from the back of a van, he has owned the Gallery for the last 24 years.

Gallery Open Saturday’s and Sunday’s 10am to 5pm or by appointment

Chappel GalleriesEdna Mirecka (Battye) opened Chappel Galleries on 16th May ’86. Later meeting Wladyslaw Mirecki, painter, it is one of the very few art galleries to claim a working artist as one of the proprietors. Set in the picturesque Colne Valley backing onto the River Colne it is an out of town gallery overlooking the romanesque 32 arch working Chappel Viaduct.

Drawn from the 20th & 21st century, Chappel Galleries sells work by professional artists, many with national reputations, also bringing to the attention of their public some who are younger or less well known. Contrary to current trends, they insist on showing artists who are grounded in the skill of painting, drawing and making of sculpture. They like to retain their identity by selling the work of artists from the region, including those who, although not living here, have regional connections.

Alongside the Visual Arts the Harwich Festival promotes music, classical, experimental, folk and jazz, new film, poetry, contemporary dance and more, all taking place in a wide variety of venues – often rather unusual ones such as the LV18 Lightship moored at Harwich Quay.

Brentwood Art Trail

Brentwood Art Trail is part of Essex’s eighth Summer of Art, which showcases artists from across the county from June to September.

The Brentwood Art Trail has been running since 2009 and is a great way to enjoy the artwork of the Borough’s many talented artists. Visitors can see a variety of work that will be displayed in participating shops and businesses throughout Brentwood.

Artists apply to display up to 5 pieces of work in venues in and around the Borough.  Shops and businesses/organisations with public access areas have generously agreed to be venues – in essence, become mini art galleries for 15 days!

The Brentwood Art Trail will be widely publicised through leaflets, posters, banners, social media and news outlets, giving artists promotion to a larger audience and bringing footfall to participating venues. Brentford Art Trial Map PDF

There is no fee to take part in the Brentwood Art Trail, either as an artist or venue.
