Colchester Art Society

The Colchester Art Society was formed in 1946 for the promotion of the visual arts. It has maintained a lively programme of exhibitions and other activities for nearly 70 years. Membership is open to all who practice or have an enthusiasm for the visual arts. Colchester Art Society currently have over 200 members.
Colchester Art Societyhold two major exhibitions each year in Colchester, which are open to members and non-members and are subject to selection. There are also talks, visits and informal social events.

Colchester Art Society 2Membership is open to anyone who practices or has an enthusiasm for the visual arts. We currently have over 200 members, mainly from North East Essex and Suffolk. Members include practicing artists, gallery owners, private collectors and those with a general interest in the visual arts.

Benefits of membership include:
•An opportunity to submit works for exhibition with reduced submission fees
•Invitation to the private view for each exhibition
•2-3 coach trips each year to art fairs, galleries, museums, stately homes, etc.
•2 talks per year by professional artists covering many and varied subjects
•Opportunity to borrow original works from our nationally acclaimed permanent collection
•A newsletter published approximately every four months
•An opportunity to exhibit your artwork on the society’s website
•Annual garden party, usually held in August
•Christmas lunch

The annual subscription of £15 is payable in April and pro-rata for anyone joining at other times of the year.
